Food Philosophy

Erik and I like to eat.

And we like to feel good after we eat.

Ultimately, our food philosophy comes down to eating what makes us feel good, but also believing in moderation. We aren't super strict about our meals or snacks, but for the most part we try to eat mostly plant-based, whole foods and generally we avoid highly processed food (unless we are really craving something).

We have found that we save a lot of money by buying whole foods and doing our own cooking. Even when I buy some of the more expensive ingredients (spices or special grains or fancy cheeses), it ends up being a lot cheaper than us eating out.

We don't have crazy tastes, but it seems like we can't eat dinner out for less than $20 any more. Even the more expensive meals I make cost less than that.

We try to look at the science behind food fads and trends and not get caught up in them. When the studies are contradictory, we rely on the Word of Wisdom. Plenty of herbs and fruit; meat (sparingly); and grain (as the staff of life).

I wanted a way to keep track of the foods that I make without having to post every recipe. I decided to post our meal plans here for easy access. Hopefully if you happen upon this site you find something you want to try. :)
