I am in love with the Walmart Grocery App. I mean, Fry's also has one and so do Safeway and Sprouts (probably other grocery stores, too). But I have found that Walmart has the cheapest prices on groceries and not having to go in makes it worth it. Plus, that is where my pharmacy is and it is the closest store to my house.
Anyway, on to why I am obsessed with it. First off, I never have to go into the store. That alone saves Erik and I so much on impulse-buys. We order, go, and pick up. Easy.
When I do our meal planning I will look at the recipes (or imagine them, for meals that I don't follow a recipe for) and then just add the ingredients I need to my cart on the app. As I am cooking if I realize I am running low on a pantry staple then I add it to my cart as the week goes along. At the end of the week, I place the order and go pick it up. We don't run out of things, we don't buy unnecessary things, it is a dream come true.
Also, when they have to use substitutes they usually sub them out with something better (but for the original price). I have only been disappointed a couple of times with the substitutes, and you can refuse them when you pick up.
They do a pretty good job of picking out produce, although the Walmart I started going to most recently has already given me weird avocados... So maybe it depends on the store.
